New clinical trial results move MDMA one step closer to FDA approval for PTSD

MDMA-assisted psychotherapy proved safe and effective in treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms in a diverse patient population, according to findings from the phase III randomized MAPP2 trial (Nature Medicine). Sponsored by the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS), the study included around 100 participants, roughly half were given MDMA, while the other half received a placebo. By the end of the study, 71% of those who received MDMA-assisted therapy no longer met clinical diagnostic criteria for having PTSD. This is the second study to show profound improvement in PTSD with MDMA-assisted therapy. At Oasis Wellness & Recovery, we are trained to provide MDMA-assisted therapy and plan to offer this life-changing medicine as soon as the FDA approves its use (possibly in late 2024). What an exciting time for mental health and wellness!
